Off The Waffle
The Liege waffle restaurant in Eugene Oregon has a custom breakfast experience that is delicious, fun and memorable. The atmosphere is comforting and feels like a low lit room at home, with a mellow jazz soundtrack playing in the background, and the aroma of coffee and sweet and savory combinations that are being prepared fresh daily, it is a must try hometown favorite. I enjoyed designing their product packaging, custom hand-painted signs, menus, apparel, print and social media advertisements along with updated logo concepts.
Their frozen waffles are being sold at local grocery stores here is Eugene, Oregon. I had fun coming up with the concept and layout for the full color, digitally printed product box. It was interesting doing market research to compare the similarities and contrasts of competing brands. I wanted it to stand out, be exciting and still have a mature look appealing to kids and adults.
In the restaurant, they needed signs that would highlight the weekly specials. This image below is my hand drawn “specials” menu for one of the weeks.
During the summer, they set up a booth at the Oregon Country Fair. The booth needed an update to the menu so I offered to design and hand paint the signs for that event. We had a great time setting it all up and working together as a big team.
Here are the t-shirts that I designed for the staff to wear while working at the booth.
Next image is of some roughly sketched concept art that could be used to make stickers. OTW got started and known by its great food and free stickers they would hand out to lovers of waffles who visit their restaurant.
I was able to update the layout of their menus. Here is a preview of both double sided and tri-fold versions.
The next images are of promotional advertisements and signs I designed for both print and social media.
While doing graphic design for OTW I was able to create concepts for an updated logo. Sketching concepts for logos is one of my favorite things about being a graphic designer. I love exploring shapes and trying to find unexpected connections to iconic imagery. In the end, they decided to continue using the existing logo. I always wish I could find a way to use all the logo concepts that ended up not being used so I will show some of those sketches also.
