Free Range Folk
The roots rock band Free Range Folk, has recorded multiple albums through their career that show the deep cultural connection to the land, loved ones and complete strangers. I have taken each chance I get to work with them, as a truly grateful moment. I love their meaningful and charismatic lyrics along with the carefully crafted sounds of their instruments they have kept me humming and dancing for many years.
I designed the illustrations, title typography and layout of their debut album “Soul Collector” with the intent to show the bands rustic and homegrown roots.
The bands idea for the cover of their second album “444”, was to show a squirrels fantasy revenge. I had fun drawing the character and choosing the colors. On the inside of the cover is the silhouettes of each of the band members.
“Impending Doom” is Free Range Folk’s third full album release. The art I drew for this was inspired by the concept that civilization was ended and the animals had taken back the land. The scene of the animals dancing and playing instruments was modeled after the photo below of the band on the porch and each of the members portraying one of the amimals.
The album cover was printed by Somersault Letterpress in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.
