5th Street Public Market - Market Fest 2022

During the summer of 2022, I made art for a community mural that was painted at Market Fest, in the 5th Street Public Market. The art was first outlined on a 8x16 canvas board. While the Festival was happening the community was encouraged to participate and join in on the painting. People of all ages came to paint their own section of the mural. It was great to help the children who wanted to try. It got a little messy with the paint but everyone had a fun time. I supplied exterior house paint so that the mural could be stored outside.

My daughter, Zoe Erickson helped me organize all the supplies, set up the area, and outline the art on the board. She also helped get people comfortable with the process by answering any questions they had and getting them a brush and paint. I am so thankful that I got to work with her on the project. She made things go so much smoother.

The art was first hand-drawn on paper. Then we projected the image onto the board and traced the outline so that the community would have an easy time seeing the areas that needed to be painted.
